VENOUS BLOOD SAMPLING FOR MITOCHONDRIAL ANALYSIS

Equipment and reagents

Syringe and needle Green-top tube
1. Needle: no thinner than 21 G — the wider the diameter, the less damage to the cells; a 23 G needle is used only in extremely rare cases in children and in patients with poor vascular architecture.
2. Tubes (9 mL)
  • Standard option — green cap with sodium/potassium heparin NO GEL !!!!
3. Fill the tube to its maximum volume.
4. Tubes with less than 6 mL cannot be processed by the laboratory.

Storage conditions

  • Keep the blood for no longer than 24 hours at 24–30 °C.
  • Do not refrigerate.
  • After this period, the sample is considered unsuitable.

Transportation

  • In Almaty, deliver samples to the Love My Body center, where they are consolidated into a shared container.
  • From other cities, ship by courier service without freezing.

Processing time and results

  • The laboratory completes the interpretation within 3 days of receipt.
  • Completed results are available in your personal account.

Patient preparation

Strict fasting is not required: it is enough to refrain from eating for 2–3 hours before the procedure, since the cell analysis is qualitative rather than quantitative.
